The Georgia Outdoor Recreation & Trail Summit: A Gathering with a Purpose
Georgia is traversed by a multitude of trails that define communities, connect neighbors and get people outdoors. Yet there is need for so much more. There are many opportunities to connect existing trail systems, increasing access to a multitude of parks, communities, and experiences.
The 2021 Georgia Outdoor Recreation & Trail Summit will bring together non-profit leaders, city planners, elected officials, greenspace advocates, recreation enthusiasts, and others to envision an accelerated and ambitious approach to improving Georgia’s trails and outdoor recreation venues.
The Georgia Trail Summit was first convened in 2014 by the Georgia Trails Alliance, a nonprofit that aims to connect Georgia’s trail community. Hundreds of stakeholders have gathered to advance the role that trails play in our state’s health and culture. After hosting four successful summits, The Trust for Public Land will convene the 2021 Summit. Building upon the past success, the 2021 Summit will have a broader focus, encouraging participants to consider how trails, parks, waterways, and other assets can bring us all together.
